Dick Protheroe 1922 - 1966






Pat Wells was born in Husbands Bosworth in 1946. After leaving school in 1960 at the age of 14 years he went to work as an apprentice with Dick at High Fields House, Husbands Bosworth and then as an apprentice in the garage at Bosworth in August with Bill Cockerill.
On 26th August 1965 when he had a serious road accident turning over a Austin Healey Sprite suffering a fractured spine and broken leg.
After returning home, visiting the garage on sticks, until Dicks death in 1966 he then moved into commercial vehicle repairs with Conning Transport until 1968. Then moved to Redland Transport and while there married Janet Copson in 1970.
He continued working for Redlands being promoted to garage manager and became a member of the Institute of Road Transport Engineers in 1974 working as manager until 1985. having been made redundant he set up a garage for Crick Commercials and then moved into truck sales.
In 1998 he started his own company repairing and building coach built horse boxes until 2007 when he retired and turned back to playing with Jaguar cars again.
